You'll want to fill it up, when you learn about our world famous Colosseum Underground Tour!
This tour will include several flights of stairs to arrive at the very top of the Colosseum on the Fifth Level and some walking on uneven terrain.
Begin your tour outside the Colosseum and take a few minutes to admire the incredible exterior of the the ancient stadium. Then, skip the line and enter the Colosseum.
With views this good, you'll wonder why these areas were restricted for the Roman plebeian class. Now, it's time for our guide to reveal some Colosseum secrets and legends.
After visiting the third level, ascend higher to the fourth. Access to upper levels is perfectly safe, but we do recommend comfortable shoes to take the hike.
Take the final climb to the fifth tier. This is the highest point in the Colosseum and the climb is worth it for the views out over the Eternal City.
We like to call this section, the "nosebleed" section. Just like in a modern stadium, the less you spend the farther away you are from the action.
Walk the streets of the political, economical and religious center of Ancient Rome on a guided tour of the Roman Forum.
A building where many of the world's most important decisions at the time were made - imagine if these walls could speak.
The ancient temple was saved from destruction, because the later church San Lorenzo in Miranda was built into it: This why this building constitutes one of the best-preserved ancient temples of Rome.
Towering above all other buildings in the area, it is impossible to miss the ruins of this incredible cathedral.

Skip the Line Colosseum Tickets
Gain exclusive access to the Roman Colosseum's restricted top levels and experience a spectacular view of the Eternal City. Open to a limited amount of visitors after four decades of closure, The Roman Guy is proud to offer skip the line tickets for the top tiers of the Colosseum. Learn about the significance of social class in ancient Rome, and where people of various status enjoyed events at the Colosseum. If you love to take photos, this is one of the best Rome tours for you. This three hour tour includes:
Enter the Colosseum through the first level and climb up to the third level where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the views from the northwest side of the amphitheater, and out over the Roman Forum. The third tier was reserved for the plebeians, also known as the working classes. After you've taken plenty of photos, learn about the types of games that took place inside the Colosseum from your professional guide. Used for animal hunts, gladiator fights, mock sea battles and even public executions, this is a must-see attraction in Rome.
The section of seating on the fourth level sits almost above the emperor's "Imperial Box" on the first level. Close enough to the brutal action for blood splatter, emperors enjoyed the best views in the Colosseum. The fourth tier seats were reserved for common women, while the fifth tier seating was used by both common women and the poorest of the poor. These are the ancient equivalence of "nosebleed seats" in modern stadiums. However, today, the top levels of the Colosseum are one of the best places to take photos.
Learn about the concept of "bread and circuses", a practice used by emperors to prevent Roman citizens from rioting. In short, a well-fed and entertained population was less likely to rise up in revolt against the aristocracy. Imagine if everyone who lived in a city enjoyed free access to sports events at the local stadium - would modern cities be more peaceful?
Q: Can my tour's start time change?
A: Yes, but not always. The system of making reservations is very complicated. Think of it like back-stage passes. The good news is that we will definitely try to reach you by telephone or email if this happens and it will almost always be at least 7 days prior to your tour date.
Q: Can my tour be canceled?
A: We run all of our tours regardless of how many people are on them, but this tour can be canceled if the Colosseum's management decides to close the areas down. It's a 2000-year-old structure so these types of things happen. We will offer you a full refund if this happens as well as some alternative options. We want to make you happy.
Q: What if it rains?
A: Rain happens, but our tour guides are waterproof! We'll run the tour rain or shine. The Colosseum Management will shut down access to the underground and other restricted areas in some cases if they feel it is unsafe. In this case, we should still be able to enter the building, but not access the restricted areas. In compensation of missing the restricted areas, we will provide an 18€ refund.
Q: I have trouble walking. Is this tour right for me?
If you have any doubts about your mobility, we strongly suggest you take a Colosseum private tour.

SO worth it! The upper portion of the colosseum was opened in early 2018, so this was a relatively new experience. Our guide, Guicy (I think that was SO worth it! The upper portion of the colosseum was opened in early 2018, so this was a relatively new experience. Our guide, Guicy (I think that was her name?) was VERY entertaining, had great pictures to help guide our experience, and knew the right spots to find shade and water. She was excellent at navigating the crowds and ensuring we had a great experience. The views were simply spectacular, and ending in the Forum was perfect. I wish we had more time in the forum; however, Rome in July is simply too hot...and the time allotted for the tour is QUITE appropriate. Definitely recommend for those who can handle stairs and heat :)...more
