On the way to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, your local guide will spend about an hour taking you through the best galleries in the Vatican Museums. Explore the Gallery of the Candelabra, Gallery of the Tapestries and our personal favorite, the Gallery of the Maps. Based on painted topographical maps of Italy by Dominican Italian friar Ignazio Danti, the Gallery of Maps is both beautiful and informative. The painted frescoes reveal how Renaissance Italians saw themselves and their surroundings.
** This Express Vatican & Sistine Chapel tour does not include a visit to St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesdays. The Vatican can be very overwhelming due to the size and the large crowds the visit daily so we were very happy to find a tour that offered a small group size. Faby (not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly) was our guide and she was just lovely. Faby was incredibly knowledgable and had such a fun and lively personality. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone. There is so much to see there but Faby made it very manageable.
