Why Montmartre?
Paris has no shortage of charming neighborhoods, but Montmartre always stands out as one of the best perched on a hill in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. With its lively cafés, bohemian atmosphere, and artistic heritage, this gem is the perfect place to indulge in Paris’ sweeter side. Plus, where else can you enjoy incredible views of the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica, the Seine River, and the sprawling cityscape dotted with historic rooftops while nibbling on a pastry, knowing Picasso and Van Gogh once called this place home?
Expert Foodie Guide
While yes, you could certainly taste your way through Paris' famed pâtisseries on your own, having an expert foodie leading the way and a small group of food enthusiast fellows adds much more depth and fun to the experience. Your guide knows where to find the hidden gems and unknown spots, skipping over the tourist traps to introduce you to local favorites where the quality speaks for itself. With their insider access, you’ll get to meet the chocolatiers and pastry chefs and learn firsthand about the processes that go into crafting each delicacy.
Meringue, Crêpes, Pastries, and More in Montmartre
Now, for the food! After the meet and greets are wrapped up at the Blanche metro station (Line 2), it’s time to dig in. First up, you’ll taste a delicate meringue, so light and airy that it practically melts as soon as it hits your tongue, and made from whipped egg whites and sugar, this classic dessert has a delicate texture and a glossy finish.
From there, your guide will lead the way to a local chocolatier to sample some of the finest chocolates in the city. French chocolate is famous for its artisan craftsmanship, high-quality ingredients, and diverse range of products, including rich dark chocolates and exquisite truffles. The innovative techniques used by renowned chocolatiers and its cultural significance in French cuisine further enhance its global reputation as a luxurious and delectable treat.
Discover the Art of French Macarons
Then, it’s onto a macaron that’s just as tasty as it is pretty. French macarons are delicate, colorful confections made from almond flour, egg whites, and sugar, consisting of two airy shells filled with ganache, buttercream, or fruit preserves. They are famous for their stunning appearance, diverse flavors, and the skill required to make them, symbolizing French culinary artistry and culture.
But the feast doesn’t stop there—you’ll also sample a freshly made crêpe, filled with your choice of Nutella, chocolate, or fruit preserves, and dig into a selection of classic French pastries. To top it all off, you’ll either sip a cozy hot chocolate (perfect for those chilly days) or cool down with an iced cocoa if the weather calls for it.
With each bite, you'll fall deeper in love with Paris—so much so, you may never want to leave. Our journey will end at Place Saint-Pierre, offering breathtaking views in front of Sacré-Cœur, where you can soak in the beauty of Paris from one of its most iconic spots and savor sweet memories of your tour
