The Roman Guy Cancellation Policy
We understand plans can change, but we'd hate for you to miss out! If you must cancel, we've made it simple. Review the details below and cancel through your My Bookings account or by submitting your request through our Help Center.
Small Group & Semi-Private Tours
For small group and semi-private tours (except those entering the Colosseum), you can amend or cancel your booking up to 24 hours before the tour's local start time for a full refund.
Colosseum Tours
For tours that enter the Colosseum, including Rome in a Day, you can amend or cancel your booking up to 72 hours before the tour's local start time for a full refund. For Underground Colosseum Tours, cancellations are available up to 35 days in advance for a full refund.
Private Tours
For private tours (except those entering the Vatican), you can cancel up to 7 days before the tour's start for a full refund. For Private Vatican Tours, a €38 per person fee applies for cancellations made more than 7 days in advance to cover our costs for securing exclusive access. No refunds are available for any private tours canceled within 7 days of the start.
Entry Tickets Reservations
Experiences that include only unguided entry tickets—including Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel Tickets and Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill Access Plus Audio Guide — are nonrefundable from the time of purchase.
Reserve Now, Pay Later Cancellations
If you book using our Reserve Now, Pay Later feature, the standard cancellation timelines listed above still apply to your reservation based on the tour type (e.g., 24 hours for small group tours, 72 hours for Colosseum tours, 7 days for private tours). If you cancel your reservation before your scheduled auto-charge date, no funds will be captured and no cancellation fee applies. If you wish to cancel after your card has been automatically charged, your eligibility for a refund is governed strictly by the standard cancellation timelines outlined above. Cancellation for Non-Payment: If your scheduled automatic payment declines, we will hold your reservation for 48 hours to allow you to update your payment method. If payment is not successfully processed within this 48-hour grace period, your booking will be automatically canceled. The Roman Guy cannot guarantee the original price or availability if you attempt to rebook after a non-payment cancellation.
Is any refund or credit possible outside of the timelines stated above?
No, refunds or credits are only available within the specific cancellation timeframes mentioned above.
What if it’s not my fault that I had to cancel?
The Roman Guy’s cancellation policy applies to all cancellations, including those caused by individual or mass-scale travel delays, personal emergencies, and unforeseen circumstances. This includes situations where you are unable to reach your destination due to widespread travel disruptions, commercial flight groundings, or border closures — provided your scheduled tour remains operational (as defined in Section 7.1 of our Terms & Conditions). Because we cannot offer cash refunds for operational tours outside of the specific cancellation timeframes above, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ (CFAR) travel insurance to protect against such situations. Please note that we are not responsible if your chosen travel insurance provider does not cover losses from delays, cancellations, flight groundings, illness, or medical expenses.
What happens if The Roman Guy cancels my booking?
While rare, tours may be subject to unexpected changes. If The Roman Guy needs to modify or cancel your booking due to ordinary circumstances, we will make every effort to offer an alternative tour that meets your expectations. If no suitable alternative is available, or if you choose to decline the option, we will provide a full cash refund, provided we are notified within the timeframes outlined above.
However, if The Roman Guy is forced to cancel your booking due to a Force Majeure Event or major global disruption—including, but not limited to, a pandemic, war, acts of terrorism, widespread commercial flight groundings, fuel shortages, or acts of God—we will issue a credit voucher equal to your purchase price in lieu of a cash refund. By completing your booking, you acknowledge that in such circumstances the issuance of this credit voucher constitutes a full and final resolution of The Roman Guy’s obligations under your booking agreement. This credit voucher will be valid for three years (36 months) and can be used toward any future booking.
