Getting to Rome from the Airports Video Guide – 9 min

Cecilia Rinaldi Last Updated: April 28, 2025

In this video, Sean Finelli discussed the airports serving the Rome metropolitan area and provide guidance on ground transportation options, including trains, buses, and taxis. The choice is yours!

BEST ways to get to ROME from the AIRPORTS (FCO & CIA)

To summarize the video, getting from FCO airport to Rome is pretty simple and there are tons of options.

Train costs about 15€ per person and take you to Termini station. From there, you can take a bus which is 1.50€ pp if you’re on a budget or take a taxi which could cost you 10 to 25€ depending. Taxi drivers tend to take advantage of non-italian speakers which is why I don’t recommend the train if you are looking to save money. It makes more sense to attempt a taxi from the airport.

Airport taxi is 45€ standard. That may increase over time slightly, but this is a city mandated fair. Some taxi drivers try to charge extra for bags, but plan on giving a 5 to 10€ tip. Tipping is always nice for any service. I wouldn’t pay a bag fee and I don’t love getting in an argument with a taxi driver in the morning which is why I almost always take an airport transfer from a limo service. If you do take a taxi, make sure they take credit card before you start your journey to avoid stress.

The best option is a limo service. You can search around for different rates online and maybe you can find something for 65€ best case. We partners with a reliable service that charges 80€ for 2 people. It’s family owned and operated and we’ve been working with them since 2019. Amico Limo is their name and they have clean cars. We definitely recommend them as you are sort of under our umbrella which means you have an additional life line.

We definitely recommend downloading Whatsapp before you go to Italy. Its the best free way to communicate with anyone providing a service.
