Colosseum
One of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the Colosseum held gladiator battles and events for nearly 500 years after it was opened in 80 AD. Still intact nearly 2,000 years later it is the marvel of Roman Architecture. Your guide will take you on a visual journey through the Flavian Amphitheater onto the Arena Floor, where the original gladiators fought for their lives. Your guide will relate knowledge about the legendary Underground and the elevators used to lift gladiators, animals and more up to the Arena floor. Learn about not only the architecture but the tales of gladiators, citizens and even slaves who played an integral role in the games that the Romans so loved.
Roman Forum
The next stop on this virtual journey is ancient Rome's downtown- the Roman Forum. Your guide will debunk the myth that Julius Caesar was killed at the Senate House ( Curia) in the Roman Forum and share where the ruler really met his demise. See the ruins of temples and markets and hear depictions of how they would have looked and what their purposes were millennia ago, as the former center of Roman commerce and daily life. Visit the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, Temple of Romulus and the Temple of Julius Caesar. Immerse yourself in the city of Rome as it was 2000 years ago at the dawn of what would go on to be a 500 year Empire.
Palatine Hill
Head up the Palatine Hill to the Beverly Hills of Rome where the rich and powerful kept their villas. Your guide will impart stories of Emperors from Augustus to Constantine and Nero to Marcus Aurelius during this one of a kind Ancient Roman online experience. One of Rome's seven hills, it plays an integral part in the founding of Rome as Romulus stood atop it before killing his brother Remus. We hope that you enjoy your time on your escape to Ancient Rome with TTG.
