Your VIP treatment begins this morning as your friendly driver picks you up from your accommodation in Rome. Traveling in a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle, you'll cruise down the road nicknamed the "Highway of the Sun" until you reach Pompeii. At Pompeii, you'll explore the ruins with your own personal expert archaeological guide, giving you an in-depth understanding of this ancient city frozen in time.
After your guided tour of Pompeii, you'll return to your transportation and continue south to the town of Sorrento in the beautiful Amalfi Coast region near Naples. Your time here is free to spend however you like, but your driver can give you some recommendations for the coolest spots to visit and where to grab a delicious local lunch (not included). Finally, you'll return to Rome in the evening.

Private Rome to Pompeii Tour
Your driver will pick you up at your accommodation for a drive down the Autostrada del Sole (highway of the sun) to the excavated city of Pompeii. Enjoy watching the scenic countryside pass by, filled with lemon tree orchards and quaint little towns. At Pompeii, you'll meet your private archaeologist guide, who'll help you skip the line to start exploring the remarkably well-preserved remains of this ancient metropolis.

The city sat undisturbed for almost 2,000 years until a group of explorers discovered that it was still largely intact. Free Afternoon in Sorrento
After you've finished exploring Pompeii, you'll meet your driver again and continue down the gorgeous winding roads of the Italian coast, along the Gulf of Naples and on to Sorrento. Before you set off to explore the town on your own, your trip leader will explain some of the many things you can do and see in this beautiful part of the Italian coast.
You'll have free time on your own to leisurely explore the center of this charming coastal gem, enjoy a typical local lunch, and indulge in some gelato or famous limoncello. Then, after a long day of sightseeing, culture, and history, meet up with your small group again and relax on the scenic drive back to the Eternal City.
Door-To-Door Service
With this day trip, your driver will collect you from your accommodation in Rome, and bring you back at the end of the day. They will stay with you throughout the day, bringing you from location to location and making this highly unlikely day possible for you!

Just wonderful. Our driver was very nice and very prompt which was great. Our guide at Pompeii (romolo) was just fantastic. He was highly knowledgeable and clearly loved the site. He had humor (which we greatly appreciate) and made it a fun two hours. We saw a ton, but as he admitted not everything. BUT that was perfect! As he showed us and was wonderfully honest about ….you don’t need to see every restaurant remain to know what they looked like. We got the Pompeii experience without spending the entire day there. Sorrento was lovely but given the horrid traffic getting there, I wish we had gotten more then basically two hours. The time lost to traffic was sorely missed. Also in Pompeii…maybe find a way to allow 10min in the bookstore? As folks who collect things from trips to make memory boxes, we would have loved to be able to stop in.
