Via Corsini studio

This isn’t a tourist classroom: it’s a working studio run by a practicing mosaic artist. Located just steps from the Botanical Garden in Trastevere, the space is filled with natural light, colorful glass, and centuries-old tradition. You’ll be welcomed by Nadia, whose approach combines precision and warmth, making even beginners feel at ease. She’ll introduce you to the traditional tools of the trade and help you select a design that suits your style and skill level.

Mosaic creation

Rome’s mosaic tradition goes back over two thousand years—used in imperial villas, bathhouses, and basilicas to express stories, gods, and status. Now it’s your turn to become part of that lineage. You’ll break, shape, and place each tile by hand, learning how ancient Romans brought their visions to life one piece at a time. Expect to lose yourself in the rhythm of the work—this is slow, meditative, and deeply satisfying craftsmanship.

A creative experience for all ages

Finding an activity in Rome that’s creative, hands-on, and genuinely engaging for everyone, whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with your whole family, is surprisingly rare. This mosaic workshop strikes that balance perfectly. It’s not a children’s activity, but something all ages can enjoy together. Whether you’re nine or ninety, working with your hands to create something lasting is an experience that brings people together. And since the studio is right in the heart of Rome, you’re perfectly placed to explore Trastevere before or after—one of the city’s most iconic, vibrant neighborhoods, filled with trattorias, artisan shops, and cobbled alleys waiting to be wandered.

Final touches and takeaway

Once your artwork is complete, you’ll place it into a special box that protects the piece while it sets. The drying process takes several hours, but you can carry the box with you immediately—no need to come back later. Whether you’re creating a souvenir for yourself or a gift for someone back home, this is the kind of memento you can’t buy in a shop.

The best afternoon in Rome
Jacqueline Abbott, 08 November 2025

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Nadia. She has been making traditional mosaics for 37 years. She patiently showed me what do do, explain and put my mosaic together. While I was there a group of regulars came in and I had the experience of being a part of there day. Highly recommend.
