Additional Information
How many times in your life will you be able to say that you walked through an almost perfectly preserved ancient city and then climbed up the volcano that destroyed it in the first place? We are guessing not too many, that’s why we offer this private tour from Positano to both Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius.
Pompeii is a rare and beautiful archeological site just south of Naples that was covered or basically frozen in time by 13–20 feet (4–6 meters) of ash and pumice by the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Some say the eruptions was Julius Caesar’s revenge! If you are planning to see the most of the Amalfi Coast, then this archeological wonder should be at the top of your priority list.
Our expert tour guide will not only weave you through this ancient Roman city, but they will also take you up to the crater of Vesuvius. This angry volcano supposedly ejected ash more than 20 miles into the air, during the fateful eruption. You'll hear all about the volcano and what we know thanks to your volcanologist guide.
Customer Reviews
Great experience. Wonderful driver Vincenzo was on time, very professional and excellent driver. Guide in Pompei as well as guide on Mr Vesuvius very knowledgeable and made experience unforgettable. Highly recommend
Absolutely fantastic! Our two guides Veronica and Angelo were excellent in explaining Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Not sure what you'd really be able to absorb on your own without someone taking the time to give you the history of what really happened. Otherwise you're just walking around looking at "something". Our driver Paolo was the best. Took all the worry out of driving and finding a place to park. He explained the history of Naples, Sorento and the Amalfi Coast in between site visits. Great people to talk to, very friendly with a sense of humor. Would do it again in a heart beat.
The driver that took us too and from Amalfi was fantastic. He was very nice and pointed out local sights along the way. Or Pompeii guide was the highlight of our trip. He was very funny and imparted expert knowledge throughout the Pompeii tour. I highly recommend this part of the tour. Our tour of Mt Vesuvius had many wonderful sights. This guide a geologist didn’t really appreciate the pace of his guests and usually walked at a quick pace 30m ahead. No rest stops, very little time at the crater. He acted like he had better places to be.
This trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius was wonderful! We definitely recommend the guides from the Tour Guide. The only drawback was that we would have liked more time in Pompeii, but we loved every minute of our tour.
