As you board the comfortable coach, you'll meet your guide and a small group of fellow explorers and set off to the serene countryside of Wiltshire. On the way, your driver will share captivating insights, preparing you for the mystical experiences at Stonehenge, Avebury, and other Neolithic wonders you’ll encounter.

West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill

Your first stop on your journey into Britain's Neolithic past is West Kennet Long Barrow, one of the largest burial tombs in the country. Upon arrival, you’ll join your guide for a walk through its ancient chambers, dating back to 3650 BCE, and ponder the spiritual life of early civilizations. Nearby, you'll catch a view of Silbury Hill, the largest prehistoric human-made mound in Europe that continues to intrigue archaeologists and visitors alike with its mysterious origins and purpose.

The Ancient Stone Circles of Avebury

Next, your adventure continues to the quaint village of Avebury, encircled by the world’s largest stone circle. Your guide will lead a walking tour around the massive stones, sharing insights into their possible meanings and uses.

After the tour, enjoy free time to explore the village and embrace the quietness accompanying this lesser-visited wonder. Oh, and don't miss the chance to visit the Red Lion Pub, a perfect spot for a quintessentially British lunch, as well as the town's charming, if not eccentric, healing stone shop.

Stand amidst these towering stones, immersing yourself in their mysterious origins and enigmatic purpose. We were lucky to have amazing weather for our Stonehenge/Avebury experience. Our guide Richard, was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. It was nice to visit Avebury and learn more about the village and stone circle. I would suggest more signage for the tour start as it was a bit confusing to find the bus. A flag or dedicated tour organizer would have been helpful. As well as recommending visitors to listen to the Stonehenge guide prior to the visit. All in all a very pleasant day and our time was well spent at these magical sites.

This tour was exactly what I was looking for—a relaxed, well-paced day filled with beautiful countryside, ancient sites, and thoughtful commentary. The guide clearly loved the area and made history come alive without it feeling like a lecture. I appreciated having time to explore on my own, and the group size kept things intimate. A great escape from the hustle of London!
