It may be cheesy, but snapping a photo holding up the tower is simply a must-do when you're in Italy! Today you'll get more than just a picture though. On this private tour, you'll get skip-the-line tickets to actually climb the famous tower. These tickets aren't that easy to come by, but don't worry, we'll make sure you tick climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa off your bucket list!
Built in the 12th century celebrating victory after a conquest of Palermo, medieval Pisa was a powerful city-state. Unaware of the lack of stability on the marshy hill, the great tower took over 200 years to build but was not intended to be at an angle. Perhaps they should have known—the word “Pisa” comes from the Greek word for “marshy land”—but the architects' mistake turned out to be a gift to the world.
Had it stayed straight up, few would visit the impressive landmark today. Experience the Tower in person, taking in the grandeur and uniqueness of this accidental world icon. Now reinforced to maintain at a stable tilt, the Leaning Tower has become one of Italy's most famous sites, and it's constantly monitored to ensure that it's completely safe to climb.
Pisa Cathedral and the Piazza dei Miracoli
Built along with the Tower over 800 years ago, Pisa is centered around the gorgeous Piazza dei Miracoli. Known as the "field of miracles" in English, the grand square of Pisa is an impressive space on its own, and even more impressive with the beautifully constructed Renaissance-era architecture that surrounds it.
Across the square from the Leaning Tower is great Cattedrale di Pisa—one of Italy's most impressive churches. Alongside the cathedral, the stunning Baptistery and Monumental Cemetery are also sights to behold.
Discover the Birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci
Next, your private driver navigates you with ease to the small medieval village of Vinci, the birthplace of the famous Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. Feel the power of its history as you trace the footsteps of the man who changed the world with both his art and inventions. Explore a 1,000-year-old monastery and take a walk surrounded by centuries-old olive trees. You'll walk the same streets that Leonardo once did, and can enjoy a Tuscan lunch in one to Vinci's excellent local trattorias.
The cost of lunch is not included in the price of the tour, but we're happy to book a restaurant for you in advance.
Visit the Da Vinci Museum
As part of your private day trip from Florence, we'll pre-book your tickets for the Da Vinci Museum dedicated to the great man himself. Da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath whose areas of interest included astronomy, architecture, botany, cartography, engineering, invention, mathematics, music, and more.
Located inside a former castle, you’ll learn about the paintings, inventions and machines accredited to one of the greatest Renaissance figures. Then, climb to the top of the Vinci tower for an unforgettable view over Vinci and Tuscany! The museum is an extremely family-friendly place with many interactive machines that both adults and kids can play with.

After the Da Vinci Museum, return to your comfortable private vehicle and drive back to Florence to visit the 1,000-year-old San Miniato Monastery and Piazzale Michelangelo, where you'll experience and incredible view over the iconic rooftops of Florence and the famous Brunelleschi Dome on the Florence Cathedral. Brilliant trip -
Matthew Higgins
This all started with the joining instructions - I certainly was a little cynical of this (and other) trips all advertising the "skip the line" feature but from an email with a picture of where we had to meet (incredibly useful by the way) to the quick entry which did indeed skip the line, this trip started well. Eleanor was so enthusiastic and informative, a real joy to have as our guide and I say this as a non-religious person. The information and storied=s were brought to life in the impressive surroundings - thank you very much, loved it
