Cala Azzurra
Your adventure begins at Trapani’s marina, and although your boat won’t set off until 10 am, we recommend arriving around 9 am. This gives you plenty of time to check in, grab coffee and breakfast from a nearby café, and settle in on board. Then, on the captain’s orders, it’s off to Favignana. Your first stop is Cala Azzurra—a shallow, calm bay known for its bright blue water and clean, sandy bottom. You’ll have time to swim, snorkel, or relax onboard while the crew prepares a light aperitif: your choice of prosecco, spritz, or a soft drink, along with salty snacks.
Swim Stops at Bue Marino and Cala Rossa
Next, you’ll cruise toward Bue Marino—a deep, rocky inlet once home to monk seals. Today, it’s a local’s favorite for snorkeling, floating, and simply admiring the striking contrast of light and stone.
From there, it’s on to Cala Rossa. This bay gets its name from a bloody naval battle between Romans and Carthaginians in 241 BC, but 2,000 years later, it’s more known for red-tinged rocks and turquoise waters. Swim past limestone quarries etched into the cliffs, and tune in as your skipper shares the fascinating history of one of Favignana’s most iconic coves.
Swim at the Cave of the Lovers and Sicilian Lunch
As you'll come to quickly agree, there's no such thing as too many swim stops—especially when they lead to places like the Cave of the Lovers. From the right angle, the stones inside look like two figures embracing, which inspired the cave’s name and the local legends that go with it. It’s a peaceful, shaded spot where you can float, snorkel, or just take in the stillness.
Once everyone’s back on board, you’ll head to Favignana’s marina and dock for lunch. The crew serves a spread of regional favorites: pasta with Trapani and Genovese pesto, fresh pane cunzato topped with anchovies, tomatoes, and oregano, and ripe seasonal fruit.
Free Time in Favignana
We all know the rule—no swimming right after lunch. Luckily, this is the perfect time to stretch your legs and get a feel for Favignana on land.
You’ll have about an hour to explore the island’s laid-back town center, filled with colorful storefronts, quiet streets, and coastal views. Pop into small shops, sip something cool at a café, or stroll past reminders of the island’s tuna-fishing heritage. This is your chance to experience a slower pace and see how life flows on land, before heading back out to sea.
Cala Dogana and Cala Fredda
With the coastline calling again, it’s time to set course for the smallest of the Egadi Islands—Levanzo. The first stop is Cala Dogana, a peaceful bay backed by a cluster of white homes and small boats tied along the shore. It’s a glimpse of everyday island life, and one of the prettiest from the deck. From there, it’s a short cruise to Cala Fredda. Tucked between limestone cliffs, this cove is all about calm water and soft light. It's ideal for a cooling swim or a slow snorkel, and if you’re the type to notice details, keep an eye out for the natural freshwater springs that made this a vital stop for sailors centuries ago.
Final Dip at Cala Minnula and Toast to the Day
Before the boat turns homeward, there’s one last stop to make. Cala Minnula may be small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. This quiet cove once served as a strategic anchorage for ancient traders, and the remnants of that history still lie just beneath the surface. After a final swim, you’ll be treated to fresh fruit and a celebratory shot of cantaloupe liqueur as the boat heads back toward Trapani. By the time you disembark at 6 pm, you’ll be sun-kissed, satisfied, and dreaming of your next island escape. Thanks for joining!
