Tour is essential for visiting colosseum. Even in November there are significant crowds. Cutting right through all of that was great. Seeing the colosseum from every angle. Climbing the Palatine hill and then descending into the forum is awe inspiring. Our guide Sarah was such a wealth of knowledge and she did a great job helping us visualize what the ruins looked like in their day. Totally worth every penny

Government-issued ID for entrance to the Colosseum. Archaeological sites are normally paved with rocky terrain, so wear comfortable sneakers. You can also bring sunscreen and a water bottle for hot summer months. You might also want to bring a snack just in case you get hungry during your 3-hour tour.
