Customer Reviews
This was the best part of our week. Sorrento is absolutely beautiful and alit of fun to walk around. Pompeii was an amazing place to see. Our guide, Antonio and the bus driver…Enrique were awesome. He went out if his way to provide a ton of information to make the trip special. Very much appreciated!
Pompeii/Sorrento trip was good. Our guide was Pari. She was ok. But in general the quality of guides in Italy is much lower than in other countries. They do not try. They don’t make sure to annunciate, and the quality of material is very basic. The bar is low so when u meet a good, professional guide, you really know it. And these guys were not it. It was adequate but not great. A lot of time and effort is spent on explaining the logistics, time and places to meet up etc. I feel like it can be done better in this day and age. Like they can drop all the pins in the app instead of telling us where to meet up and us writing down the names of plazas, streets to meet up at and times. Also, if I would do it again I would probably choose to see Positano, not Sorrento. It may be less chaotic and even more beautiful. Sorrento was nice but not as spectacular as I hoped. Our Local tour guy in Pompeii was very good though. No complaints. Overall it was just ok. Finding the place to meet up was fine. There is a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes especially in Pompeii.
Natascia did a really great job of laying out the exceptions for the day as it came. Her narration on the comfortable and air conditioned bus put context to what we were seeing. The views were breathtaking and visiting the Limoncello di Capri factory was a delightful surprise where you can experience a quick sampling of their products to purchase. Sorrento is a breathtaking town on the coast that allows you to grab some souvenirs. We were then handed over to Alessandro who kept our interest which the highlights of Pompeii. We were also given the opporturnity to purchase lunch and it was an eventful day. We did two tours with the Tour Guy, and two others with competitors. I felt that they were much more organized, enthusiastic about what they were sharing, and very detailed directions on the meet up point allowed first timers in Rome ease in getting there. It really took the guesswork out of planning and transportation. It was worth the expense.
We chose this tour because we wanted to visit Pompeii and were spending the night in Sorrento. The agenda when we purchased was Pompeii and ending in Sorrento. When we got on the bus the guide explained it would be Sorrento first and then Pompeii, so we were unable to visit Pompeii as we planned for and paid for.
