Begin your tour with private hotel pickup
Meet your private driver directly outside your Amalfi Coast accommodation. Settle into a comfortable vehicle for a scenic drive along the winding coastal roads, taking in views of cliffside villages and blue waters as you head toward the ruins of Pompeii. -
2
Walk the ancient streets of Pompeii
With pre-reserved tickets, step onto two-thousand-year-old basalt paving stones at the world's most famous archaeological site. Your private archeologist guide leads you through public forums, ancient markets, and preserved bathhouses, explaining how the catastrophic eruption of 79 AD preserved daily Roman life beneath meters of volcanic ash. -
3
Discover preserved frescoes and plaster casts
Then follow your guide into remarkable Roman domus structures adorned with detailed frescoes and intricate mosaic floors. See the moving plaster body casts that capture the final moments of ancient residents, gaining profound historical insight into the city's sudden preservation. -
4
Ascend the slopes of Mount Vesuvius
Leave the archaeological park and board your private transport for the drive up the mountain slopes. Your vehicle climbs through Mount Vesuvius National Park, delivering you to the summit trail head where cool alpine air and volcanic soil replace the coastal heat. -
5
Peer inside the Vesuvius crater rim
Join a specialized volcanologist guide for a hike to the edge of the active crater rim. Look down into the rocky caldera while learning about the volcano's eruptive history, modern monitoring systems, and dramatic 79 AD explosion, all while enjoying panoramic views over Naples. -
6
Your tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation
Rejoin your driver at the base of the summit trail for the relaxed return journey to the coast. Reflect on a day filled with ancient history and natural wonders as your private vehicle delivers you directly back to your hotel door.

Customer Reviews
Was absolutely incredible! What an experience it was. The driver Joe and both guides Carlo and Angelo were so amazing, educational and informative. Very knowledgeable in their field. And so glad we had a driver to drive the coast. We learned so much more about Pompeii and Vesuvius that we didn’t get with research and documentaries. I highly recommend this. Worth the experience!
Veronica guided me thru Pompeii smoothly avoiding crowds and staying in the shade whenever possible. Her knowledge and colorful stories made the tour APlus. Guido was my guide trekking Mt. Vesuvius and his passion and expertise about the volcano’s history and current state was amazing. He was above and beyond one of the best guides ! I highly recommend using The Tour Guys!
Great experience. Wonderful driver Vincenzo was on time, very professional and excellent driver. Guide in Pompei as well as guide on Mr Vesuvius very knowledgeable and made experience unforgettable. Highly recommend
Absolutely fantastic! Our two guides Veronica and Angelo were excellent in explaining Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Not sure what you'd really be able to absorb on your own without someone taking the time to give you the history of what really happened. Otherwise you're just walking around looking at "something". Our driver Paolo was the best. Took all the worry out of driving and finding a place to park. He explained the history of Naples, Sorento and the Amalfi Coast in between site visits. Great people to talk to, very friendly with a sense of humor. Would do it again in a heart beat.
