Due to traffic and to make sure the tour gets going on time, pick-up is only possible from select Vegas Strip hotels. Let us know where you're staying when you book and we'll reach out to confirm. If your hotel isn't on the Strip or the pick-up list, we'll suggest a convenient location for you to join the tour from.
Seven Magic Mountains
Your first stop is an impressive desert art installation by Ugo Rondinone, which features seven painted boulder totems that stand 35 feet high. This beloved structure in the desert is a top Instagrammable location, so take some truly epic photos as you walk among these towering colorful boulders.
Historic Boulder City
Founded to house workers during the construction of the Hoover Dam, the town's name comes from the nearby Boulder Canyon. It's now become Nevada's largest cluster of historic buildings with over 500 listed, and the 1930s architecture gives the town a unique old-time feel. It's also a great place for your guide to tell the remarkable story of the dam and the people who constructed it.
Hemenway Park & Desert Bighorn Sheep
Next, you'll travel to nearby Hemenway Park. This pocket of green space surrounded by rocky slopes is a beautiful spot to relax for a little while, with views of Lake Mead in the distance. It's also famous for its large population of desert bighorn sheep!
Lake Mead Panoramic Lookout
As you continue towards the Hoover Dam, you'll enjoy a short stop to take in an incredible view of Lake Mead, which is largest reservoir in the United States. Lake Mead is fed by the Colorado River and its well worth stopping for an awesome panoramic view of the dam.
Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge
Opened in 2010, this bypass bridge is an engineering marvel all of its own. It connects the canyon and provides an impressive birds eye view of the Hoover Dam a thousand feet below. This route also provides traffic an alternate route to cross over the dam, leaving pedestrians free to roam the top of the dam without cars.
Cross the Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam was built between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression, and it regarded as one of the most impressive feats of engineering in history. 1,244 feet long, 726 feet high, and a staggering 660 feet thick at its base, this incredible structure was built to provide irrigation water, hydroelectric power, and keep flooding on the Colorado river under control. Your expert guide will tell you all about the history, construction, why the Hoover Dam is famous, and its original name.
Your tour ends with drop-off back on the Vegas Strip, and be sure to ask your local guide for their Las Vegas evening recommendations!
