Tour Itinerary

  • 1

Your tour begins at the Accademia Gallery

You’ll meet your guide outside the Galleria dell'Accademia. Look for the exact location on your booking voucher. Head straight through security to start your tour.
  • 2

Use skip-the-line entry at the Accademia Gallery

Once inside the Accademia, you'll see why Florence became the birthplace of the Renaissance. Listen as your guide shares stories about the artists who changed Western art forever, and explains how Michelangelo's work ended up in this museum instead of scattered around the city.
  • 3

    Walk the Hall of Prisoners

Down the main corridor, you'll pass Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures called the Prisoners. These marble figures look like they're struggling to break free from the stone, which is exactly what Michelangelo intended.
  • 4

    Marvel at Michelangelo’s David

Next, stand face-to-toe with the sculpture that defined Renaissance ideals, Michelangelo's David, completed in 1504. Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, this 17-foot masterpiece symbolized the Florentine Republic's defiance against powerful rivals.
  • 5

Take free time to enjoy the museum

After your one-hour guided tour, your ticket allows unlimited time to explore. Revisit David with fresh perspective, examine lesser-known works, or simply absorb the weight of history surrounding you. Stay as long as you wish.
  • 6

Your tour finishes inside the Accademia Gallery

You'll leave understanding how Florence's political ambitions and artistic genius intertwined to create masterpieces that still inspire the world. Ask your guide for recommendations on nearby historical sites or cafés before continuing your journey.

Excellent quick tour
Janice C., 07 October 2026

We wanted a good overview of David and Michelangelo’s work in the Accademia without a lot of time spent on all the other parts of the museum since we aren’t big consumers of art details as a whole. Valentina did such a good job of doing exactly what we were looking for and we learned so much! She also inspired us to visit the Duomo museum to see Michelangelo’s Florentine Pieta! Thank you so much!!

Fabulous tour
Emily H., 05 October 2026

Is there anything better than seeing the David? The tour was great! Just FYI, the one hour version certainly is express. We didn't mind, but some people on the tour wished it was longer.

Unforgettable
John B., 04 October 2026

Seeing the statue of David in person was awe-inspiring. Our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge, revealing facts about Michelangelo I never knew. She was graciously in control of the group in a bit of a chaotic frenzy of people and lines and hot sun. The earsets we wore provided excellent sound. Fantastico!

Excellent insights

Tour guide gave us wonderful descriptions and information about Michelangelo and the David. I would have missed so much if I hadn't been on your tour.

So many details I would have missed on my own!
Janet W., 02 October 2026

Marco was a passionate and very interesting expert guide. We would have missed so many interesting facts about the history and the construction details of David and the other statues significance. You truly need a guide, it is so worth it. Plus skipping the enormous lines even at end of Sept!
