The UNESCO Villages of Cinque Terre
Not long ago, the Cinque Terre Towns on the Ligurian coast were hidden gems, unknown to most of the world. Now, you can wander through these enchanting villages, each offering its own charm and history. Begin in Manarola, known for its medieval alleys and the famous sweet wine, Sciacchetrà. After a short orientation, you’ll have free time to explore before catching the coastal train to Vernazza.
Vernazza, often considered one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, is known for its colorful port and a centuries-old castle perched high above. After soaking in the views, a short train ride will bring you to Monterosso, where you can unwind on the beach and take in the Mediterranean breeze.
Sail along the Coast to Riomaggiore
Your last stop is Riomaggiore, renowned for its stunning panoramic views and pastel-colored houses overlooking the sea. If the weather cooperates, you’ll sail from Monterosso to Riomaggiore, providing a fresh perspective of the cliffs and Cinque Terre Towns along the rugged coastline. In case of inclement weather, the boat ride will be replaced with a scenic train route. Enjoy time in Riomaggiore’s charming terraces before returning to Florence.
Return to Florence
As the afternoon wanes, your driver will meet you with the coach to bring you back to Florence. If you’ve worked up an appetite from all the exploring, your guide will happily recommend nearby restaurants for a perfect end to your day.
