The Gothic Quarter and the Mercado del Boqueria
Your day begins in Barcelona's most historic neighborhood: the Gothic Quarter. You'll walk past the Roman ruins depicting the city's ancient past and head through the medieval alleys and cobblestone streets that carry stories of their own. And your guide will make sure you see Barcelona's 13th-century cathedral that is often overlooked by the grand basilica you'll see later in the day.
As you pass through the nearly 2,000-year-old neighborhood, your guide will lead you through the local Mercado del Boqueria (closed on Sundays). Take in the amazing aromas that swirl through the impressive market. Sample delicious jamon (Iberico ham) and local cheeses from family-run stalls that have inhabited the market for generations.
Park Guell
Next, you'll hop in an air-conditioned vehicle and head to your next destination. Along the way, be sure to watch for Casa Batllo, which is likely the most famous "House of Bones" that Gaudí created. You'll be whisked away from the hustle and bustle of the city at the surreal Park Güell. Your private guide will have your skip-the-line tickets ready so you can bypass any crowds. This magnificent place was envisioned by Gaudí as a luxury residential area outside of Barcelona's city center.
As you stroll along the colorful walkways and staircases of the park, your guide will explain Gaudí's colossal ideas for this complex—and why they never actually came to pass. Nowadays, Park Güell is the most beloved park in Barcelona and a fantastic place to see the city from above. Your guide will make sure you get postcard-worthy photos from the trencadís-adorned balconies that rise above its iconic Dragon Stairway.
Free Time for Lunch
After a morning of exploring, you're bound to be hungry. Luckily, Barcelona's food scene is among the best in Spain. Lunch isn't included in the tour price, but your guide will have plenty of recommendations whatever your tastes.
Sagrada Familia
The last stop on your private Barcelona in a Day Tour is the iconic Sagrada Família. Not only is it the most popular church in Spain, but it's also one of the most visited churches in all of Europe! It's not surprising that the lines to get in can take hours, so stick with your guide who will make sure you skip the line to see the interior of this stunning cathedral.
Discover the history of this magnificent church as you admire the exterior of the building that represents two contrasting facades: Façade of the Nativity and the Façade of Passion. Learn more about the eccentric genius who envisioned this masterpiece and started its construction at the age of 30, way back in 1882. Amazingly, the cathedral is still partly under construction, almost 150 years later!
Be prepared: stepping inside this cathedral will take your breath away. The colors and glow from the stained glass windows rival any cathedral in Europe—perhaps even besting them all. This is where your guide will really come in handy so you can take it in and learn all about this incredible structure.
After the tour, you're welcome to remain in the church for as long as you like. Be sure to go to the Sagrada Família museum located downstairs below the church, too!
Please be aware that you must have a valid photo ID for all group members, including children. Sagrada Familia security will check your ID upon entry.

Margaritas was wonderful. She took us through the back streets of the Gothic area early in the morning. There was no one there.it was like being transported back in time.. She lite up like a Christmas tree at the Sagrada Famila, a place she obviously loves. We would have to agree with her! This was well worth our short time we had in Barcelona.

Excellent, informative tour for first time visitors to Barcelona who want to capture the major sites in one day. Transportation was on large buses reserved for our group only and tour guide was friendly and knowledgable.
