Old City Philadelphia

Home to America's longest continuously inhabited street, Philadelphia's Elfreth's Alley dates back to 1703. Still full of the same brick row-houses that lined the cobblestones over 3 centuries ago, the street is blast to America's colonial past.

73 Years after Philadelphian's began living on Elfreth's Alley, the city became capital of a new independent nation, thirteen former colonies of the UK joining together as the United States of America. Visit the location where independence was declared as you tour Independence Hall and the aptly named Liberty Bell.

At the Liberty Bell Center, learn about Philadelphia's legacy of freedom and more. Then head to the Betsy Ross House to learn about the revolutionary hero responsible for America's iconic "Stars and Stripes."

City Hall, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rocky Steps

Philadelphia was founded by the Quaker, William Penn. Penn designed his city on an impressive grid centered on a grand square at the intersection of Broad and Market Streets. Since 1877 the city has circled the great City Hall.

Built in the Second Empire, the grand building takes up over 600,000 square feet, equal to the size of a city block. Visit this impressive building that still keeps Philadelphians in awe as they see it.

At the other terminus of the wide boulevard that is the Ben Franklin Parkway, you will find Philadelphia's other grand palace, the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Though the museum itself hosts a grand collection that takes a day itself to explore, on this day you will be visiting its equally famous exterior.

Finally completed in 1926, the museum became even more famous worldwide by the Oscar-Winning classic film Rocky exactly half a century later. Run the stairs where Rocky trained before his incredible bout against Apollo Creed.

Though the statue is no longer at the top of the stairs due to the crowds, there is no rule against lifting your arms up high as champions for an awesome photo. Before leaving Philadelphia, you'll be sure to see the beautiful Boathouse Row lining the Schuylkill River. These mansions are home to many of the great clubs and universities that host Philadelphia's famous regattas.

Amish Country

The next stop of the day is outside the confines of Philadelphia and modernity. About an hour west from Philadelphia is Lancaster County, home to America's largest Amish community. Famous for their incredible desserts such as the best donuts you'll ever have, the Amish live without the modern luxuries of electricity, cars or tractors.

On your trip to Lancaster County, you will enjoy a traditional horse and buggy ride. Take a blast to the past and see the world as it was centuries ago but too many are still the way today.
