Arrival at Torciano Winery
Your Tuscan journey begins just outside the medieval hilltown of San Gimignano, where you’ll arrive at the gates of the family-owned Torciano Winery—one of the oldest and most authentic estates in the region. The drive itself sets the tone: cypress-lined roads, stone farmhouses, and golden hills covered in vineyards. Here, you’re not joining a class in someone’s apartment or a sterile kitchen—you’re stepping into a slice of real Tuscany. As you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by your hosts and introduced to the day’s experience in an open-air kitchen or rustic tasting room, depending on the season.
Hands-On Pasta Making Class
With aprons on and rolling pins in hand, you’ll start your culinary adventure. Under the guidance of a professional Italian chef, you’ll learn the secrets of fresh pasta from scratch—kneading, rolling, cutting, and shaping dough into three iconic formats: tagliatelle, pici, and ravioli. Each step is hands-on, personal, and fully guided in English. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned home cook, the chef will break things down clearly, so you walk away not only with full bellies—but new skills too.
Wine Tasting and Lunch
Between mixing and molding, you’ll begin tasting. As the pasta is set aside and prepared by the chef for your upcoming meal, you’ll transition into a guided wine tasting. From crisp Vernaccia to bold Chianti Classico and silky Tuscan wines, your host will walk you through the vineyard’s premium labels. Learn how to evaluate color, aroma, and structure like a pro—while sipping on wines that perfectly reflect the land you’re standing on.
Once the pasta you made is cooked and plated, you’ll sit down for a full Tuscan lunch—served with views of the vines and paired wines selected to match every course. The meal begins with a generous antipasto platter of salami, local cheeses, bruschetta, and seasonal snacks. Then, your handcrafted pastas dressed in traditional sauces and served family-style. Finally, dessert: cantuccini dipped in a smooth, sweet dessert wine.
Alongside your lunch, you’ll be invited to taste Torciano’s finest extra virgin olive oils, including truffle and spicy pepper infusions, as well as their Gold Reserve balsamic vinegar—aged and rich enough to rival the complexity of the wines. Your host will share the history and techniques behind each product, offering a deeper understanding of Tuscany’s flavor traditions.
Sweet Ending and Farewell
The experience ends with a final glass of wine and time to relax or explore the estate at your leisure. You’ll have a chance to shop for your favorite bottles, oils, or vinegar before heading out—or simply take a few extra minutes to soak in the view. This is Tuscany as it was meant to be experienced: slow, generous, and unforgettable.
