During the ride, you will watch a documentary film on the history of Auschwitz as an introduction to the sites you will see in the museum and memorial.

Auschwitz I

Upon arrival at the former concentration camp, you will enter as hundreds of thousands did in the early 1940's. Walk under the Arbeit Macht Frei or "work makes you free" gate who's irony was extremely cold and appalling. You will then head into the visitor reception center of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, which had been the prisoner reception center when the camp was open.

Originally a Polish Army Barracks, the first prisoners were sent to the camp once establish as a concentration camp by the SS in 1940. Your guide will bring you throughout the areas used as for administration, housing and the infamous Block 11.

You will also visit Block 10, where the experiments of Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele took place. Learn about the deplorable work of Mengele on the prisoners including twins and children.

Auschwitz II-Birkenau

In 1942, Himmler and the SS determined that they needed to expand Auschwitz. Just 3 kilometers away, you will head to Auschwitz II-Birkenau for the second part of your tour.

The area did also hold large barracks of prisoners. The barracks were built by the prisoners themselves and they were forced to live inside during the construction. In some of the most appalling conditions within the camp, the layouts were designed to provide just one meter of sleeping space for each resident. Walk through the barracks and be immersed in the history and magnitude of the Holocaust.

It is impossible to comprehend the magnitude of crime and dehumanization that transpired at Auschwitz until you see it in person. While in Poland, a trip to Auschwitz is a memorable experience into history, remembrance and reconciliation.
