Door-to-Door Service
Your day begins with hotel pickup in San Francisco and also includes drop-off back at your hotel after the tour, so you don't have to worry about taxis and meeting points. Firstly, you'll head over the Golden Gate Bridge as you leave the city to head north, and along the way your friendly local driver-guide will get to know the group and explain what's in store for you.
Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve
As you approach the mighty redwoods, your guide will explain how these groves were miraculously spared from the Gold Rush. During the 1840s and 1850s, thousands of majestic redwoods were cleared for those seeking to strike gold.
The Armstrong Redwoods are named after Col. James Armstrong who purchased this land for future preservation and saved a remarkable slice of American nature for us all to enjoy. Before entering the grove, enjoy a stop for coffee and a light breakfast (not included). It's a good chance for a little pick-me-up before you explore the trails.
Once in the Redwoods, you'll have at least 90 minutes to explore the area. Embrace the tranquility of the forest and majesty of these millennia-old tees. Measuring over 300 feet tall with some over 1,000 years old, the coastal redwoods are a natural wonder. Through the trails, you'll also find a seasonal waterfall adding to the park's beauty.
Drive through California Wine Country
You'll hop back in your luxury minibus for a drive through the beautiful Californian countryside towards the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. While heading past the hills and vineyards, learn about the history of California wine making and how this became one of the world's most popular wine regions. Your guide will explain why Russian River Valley and the nearby Sonoma and Napa Valleys are perfect areas to grow and produce wines.
Wine Tastings, Vineyard Tours, and a Picnic Lunch
While you're in wine country, it'd be crazy not to sample some of the finest wines California has to offer. Today you'll visit two wineries—one small boutique and the other a larger and more grand affair. At both wineries you'll enjoy wine tastings led by local wine experts. Learn about the grapes that thrive in the Russian River Valley along with the wine making process that create the delicious Californian vino.
After all that exploring and sipping delicious local wines, you'll probably be hungry, so a delicious picnic lunch will also be served in the grounds of one of the wineries.
