Frequently Asked Questions
Where to meet?
Green Souvenir Kiosk in front of the Colosseo metro stop - located just outside the lower level. A representative will be there holding a sign with our company name on it.
What to bring?
Archaeological sites are normally paved with rocky terrain so wear comfortable sneakers. Bring sunscreen and a water bottle for hot summer months.
Q: Does my tour still run if it rains?
A: The Roman Guy runs guided tours rain or shine. In cases of heavy rainfall, the Colosseum management may close the Arena Floor at the last minute for safety. We do our best to make alternate Arena Floor arrangements, but we cannot guarantee a substitute date. If your group is subject to closures by the Colosseum and does not get access to the Arena Floor, we still continue on a 2.5-hour tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. There is no refund given if the arena is closed for this tour.
Q: What if I'm not sure about my mobility?
A: If you have any doubts about your mobility, we strongly suggest you take a Private Colosseum Tour.
Q: What if the Arena Floor is Closed?
A: Sometimes the Colosseum closes down access to restricted areas with very little notice. This could be due to rain or some sort of repair going on. In this case, we will visit other areas and the tour will run with the same duration. Sorry, but we do not offer a refund if the Arena Floor is closed.

Great tour with Alessandro
We went to Italy for our honeymoon and ended in Rome. We wanted an authentic Colosseum tour and after some research found Roman Guy and liked that it was 2.5 hours and had strong previous reviews. Things we appreciated and liked: - Upon booking, we got email confirmation with very detailed instructions. NOTE: the location was hard for us to search in google maps because we had no city WiFi but upon asking the info desk, they knew immediately where to go and pointed us in the right direction! - Everything the tour said it would offer, it offered, and more. I don’t know if it was the smaller size of our group or the fact that our group was super interested in everything, but Alessandro took us to see one of the more amazing views we’ve had in any city. - We did get a special entrance upon entering the Colosseum. There was another group also entering so we did have to wait a tad, but it was obvious it wasn’t anyone’s fault...security was monitoring capacity counts. Honestly, there’s not a whole lot to say about what we didn’t like! The tour was personal, Alessandro was super knowledgeable and forthcoming about the heat - it was pushing 95 degrees F when our tour was a half hour in (4:00pm) and he guided us to ALL the fountains during the tour, and he took the time to answer any questions we had. We noticed other tour guides would lead a group to a point then say, “I’m going to stay here, but you can go look around. Just come back in a couple minutes”. Alessandro was genuinely interested in us learning and getting a great experience. Def would def again when we go back, either Rome or another city. Thanks !!
Great tour with Donate
What a wonderful afternoon spent with Donate. She was such a joy and we learned lots about the area. This tour includes lots of walking and stairs so just be prepared. Another great tour with The Roman Guy.
Colosseum tour w/Amanda
Amanda was great! She was very knowledgeable on where and how to get us in to avoid the lines. She had so much information on the Colosseum and and the Roman Forum, and told us numerous 'behind the scene' and little known stories of each area. Found us shade during the brutal July day. Wonderful tour and very organized company.
