Rome has many things to offer such as the Colosseum, Fontana di Trevi and countless museums. However, Italy has something else that it’s famous for: its food. After a day of visiting the city or attending class, you start feeling hungry and want to find somewhere to eat. As a student, you don’t really want to spend a lot of money and yet you want to eat something tasty. So, to help you out, I’ve compiled a list of “Top 5 Restaurants for Students in Rome”!
Top 5 Restaurants for Students in Rome
1 – Pasta Imperiale (Historical Center)
If you are looking to try out some great Italian pasta, you need to put Pasta Imperiale on your list. Here, the chef cooks your pasta right in front of you, behind a big window. Another great thing is that the sauce is also freshly prepared. It is a great restaurant for students in Rome if you want to eat well, without spending too much money.
As for the prices, they have great menus for 8€ or 9€, depending on the type of pasta you order. They include: a plate of pasta, water and tiramisu or salad. If you happen to be very hungry, you can opt for a bigger plate for only 2€ more. #NomNomNom
2 – Pastasciutta (Near Vatican)
Eating pasta in Rome is a must. If you are making a list of places where you can eat for less in Rome, Pastasciutta should be on your list. It is a small place, like most Italian restaurants and it is located near Saint Peter’s Square.
The best thing about this place is that the pasta is freshly made from scratch, not to mention the fantastic prices. Just for you to have an idea: a plate of pasta with different types of sauces which you can choose from is just 6€.
3 – Pinsere (Near Termini/Borghese)
Italy is famous for its pizzas and you can’t leave Rome without eating a slice. If you want to try out one of the best pizzas in the city without having to empty out your pockets, then Pinsere is the place to go. Even though it is not actually pizza, pinse is a type of Roman flat bread which is quite similar to it.
As for the prices, just to get an idea: for two pinses and 2 bottles of water, you will only have to pay 10€. There are just two small inconveniences about the place: you will have to eat standing and the place is only open from Monday to Friday.
4 – Pizzeria Da Baffetto (Historical Center)
This pizza place is considered by many to have the best pizza in Rome. Even student accommodation experts, Uniplaces, who rent out apartments in the area agree that this place is one of the top restaurants for students in Rome! It is famous for its quality and, even though the place is quite small and usually full, it is worth trying so you can see for yourself if you’d consider their pizza the best in Rome.
The prices at Pizzeria da Baffetto range between 7€ and 12 €.
5 – Pastificio
It is almost impossible to find a great place to dine for less than 5 € next to the Spanish Steps. Then, it is even more impossible to imagine a 4 € option that includes a glass of wine. Well, Pastificio is all about that. You do however, have only 2 options for pasta and have to eat it surrounded by shelves of dried pasta, but it is worth it.
Italy without food, simply isn’t living the full experience. Also, do not forget to try out the gelato while you’re in Rome, because who can eat Italian food without a gelato for dessert!?
