Q: Do the prices on the website include tickets, taxes & fees?
A: Yes. No additional costs to online prices.
Q: Do you skip the line for tickets on all your tours?
A: Yes. We skip the line for tickets on all of our tours. At times there may be a security wait to get in certain areas like the Vatican City.
Q: Do your guides speak English?
A: Yes. Some of them native English, but all fluent English. Check our Trip Advisor.
Q: Can we request a guide?
A: Yes. If you have a preference we can place you with a certain guide, but we cannot guarantee. People get sick and things happen, but all of our guides are outstanding.
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: We ask for 100% payment upon confirmation.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: The Roman Guy offers a full refund on cancellations made more than 72 hours prior to your tour taking place. Cancellations made within 72 hours of your tour taking place cannot be refunded but we will do our best to accommodate you on another tour or date, pending availability
Q: Will the guide pick us up at our Hotel?
A: This is not included in the price of our tours. It is available for an additional cost, either as an add-on for your tour before checkout or by contacting our Travel Planning Experts. Without selecting this additional service, you are required to organise your own transport from your hotel to your tour meeting point.
Q: Will we do a lot of walking?
A: Most tours are 90% on foot. On the Golf Cart Tour and on our Rome City Driving Tour you will be seated 90% of the time.
Q: Do we need to wear long pants at the Vatican?
A: The Vatican requires both men and women to cover shoulders and knees while inside sacred areas like the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. In addition to the Vatican, when a church is listed as a stop on your tour itinerary, please ensure you are wearing suitable clothing that covers shoulders and knees.
Q: Do you conduct tours in the rain?
A: Yes. Rain or shine.
Q: What is the difference between a private tour & a small group tour?
A: Private tour groups consist of your party/group & your own private guide. A small group tour is when you will join a tour that is open to other The Roman Guy travelers. Small Group tours vary in size between 8-12 people, depending on the tour.
Q: We are a small group. Should we do a small group tour?
A: Not necessarily. You can select a private tour or, depending on availability and the size of your group, we may be able to accommodate you on one of our small group tours with other travelers.
Italy Guided Vacations
Q: Tours are 18-24?
A: Depending on the specific tour, you’ll be traveling with a maximum of 18-24 people during your
vacation. For most guided tours during your guided vacation, we split the groups up into 2 groups
of maximum 12 people. We think this provides a more personal experience.
Q: Which guided tours are in groups of 12 or less?
A: Venice Panoramic Tour, Renaissance Florence City Tour, Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain Tour,
Colosseum “Restricted Access” Dungeons Tour, Vatican & Sistine Chapel Tour, Catacombs &
Appian Way Tour
Q: What is included?
A: A lot! You’ll be pleasantly surprised with how much is included in each vacation. You’ll see
several different attractions in each destination you visit – both main attractions and hidden gems –
with local guides, plenty of typical Italian meals included – we know our grub! – on-land
transportation between destinations, accommodation, all breakfasts, site admissions, and so much
Q: Are the cost of flights included?
A: No, but we would love to help you book your flight!
Q: Will you help us with flights.
A: Yes. After you make your booking our customer service team will most definitely help you find a flight that fits best with yourself and with the tour you have booked.
Q: Will you pick us up and drop us off at the airport?
A: Yes. Airport pick-up is included if you arrive on the same date as the “Arrival Day” of your chosen package and within the communicated time bracket. Airport drop-off is also included if you depart on the same date as the “Departure Day” of your chosen vacation and within the communicated time bracket*. If you arrive or depart on another day, we can organize transport but this may require you to pay an additional charge.
*TRG Sicily Package only includes airport pick-up.
Q: Which tour is right for me?
A: This depends on your interests. Inside the tour description you’ll see an area that says, “This tour is perfect for” which will explain what type of traveler is best suited for each tour. First timers tend to choose our city vacations which include areas like Rome, Florence and Venice, whereas return visitors enjoy getting a little more off the beaten path and choose our vacations that explore regions of Italy in more depth depending on their interests, like our Vineyard Trail package of our Sicily Guided Vacation.
Q: What kind of experience should I expect?
A: We only create dream vacations. Our travel experts and guides have everything organized for you down to the last drop of vino. Your vacation will be like no other, with your experiences in Italy being anything but ordinary. No large groups and only exclusive tours to provide you with colorful memories to tell to your family and friends about upon your return home. We work to give you vacations that will out-shadow any previous vacation you have ever taken.
Q: How do we get from place to place once we are in Italy?
A: Transit between cities is included by way of private bus (coach). We think this is the most comfortable and relaxing way to travel. Most will seat up to 50 people and, as there will be a maximum of 24 people on your vacation, there will be plenty of space for both you and your bags. We also provide transit from the hotel to the tour meeting points each day. It’s our job to make sure you get from point A to point B in the most comfortable way possible.
Q: Is there a Tour Director/Leader with us?
A: Yes. There will be a bi-lingual Tour Director/Leader that will be with you throughout the entire duration of your vacation package.
Q: Is everything in English.
A: Yes. We cater to the English-speaking client base so all tours will be in English.
Q: So is the Tour Director/Leader also the Tour Guide for the museums and sites?
A: No. Your Tour Director is a person who will be on hand 24/7 to answer any questions you may have about your itinerary, schedule etc. The Tour Director’s job is also to provide you with some insight into the culture of the different regions and improve your overall experience by making sure you are having fun!
Your Tour guides at major sites will be certified english-speaking guides. Each guide will be local to the area as we believe that local guides have the best knowledge of the nearby sites and history, giving you the most fulfilling experiences with the most accurate information.
Q: What type of accommodation will I be staying in?
A: Our hotel standards are minimum 4 stars, providing you with comfort, wi-fi, spacious rooms, private bathrooms, breakfast and all the amenities you could need during your stay. We have carefully chosen the location of your accommodation to give you the most comfortable and immersive experience possible, all at great value for money. In the cities, you’ll be centrally located so you are close to all the best sites, and in the country, you’ll be staying at only the best locally owned accommodations with swimming pools and nearby sites that boast some of TRG’s favorite hidden gems.
Q: Are all meals included?
A: No. Although we include more food than most other companies, we do not cover the cost of all your meals. You will be given a few free days & nights that allow you to do and plan your own activities and meals, but this free-time will be accompanied by a The Roman Guy Guidebook where you can find recommendations for nearby sites, must-try cuisine and delicious local restaurants.
Q: Will you help us with restaurants on free nights?
A: Of course! Your The Roman Guy Guidebook will have everything you need and your Tour Director/Leader will be happy to help you find a place that suits your needs and tastes.
Q: What about Tipping in Italy?
A: Restaurants – Tipping is customary in Italy, but not mandatory. At restaurants a couple of euro is nice to leave behind if the waiting staff were attentive. Sometimes, however, the tip is included in a service charge or bread charge so look for “coperto” on your bill.
Tour Guides – You are also permitted to tip your Tour Guides after each tour if you felt they did an exceptional job.
Tour Director/Leader – If your Tour Director/Leader also did an exceptional job, which they will most certainly do, you are permitted to tip them at the end of your trip.
Q: How can I book my vacation package?
A: We have made our online booking process as simple as possible so you can book your place on one of our vacations at the touch of a button! If you’d still like some help, you can email one of our Travel Experts at firstname.lastname@example.org with your queries and we’ll make an appointment to call you and walk you through the process (no worries!).
Q: How can I pay for my package?
A: We offer a few payment options. You can either pay by credit card or you can opt to pay by check, in which case the payment must be made in full 90 days in advance. Another option is reoccurring billing. We would set your credit card to be charged monthly and spread the payments out evenly so that your last payment would be made 30 days in advance. Whatever is best for you.
