What does the website price include?

A: The website price includes all entrance tickets and any additional fees associated with the tour. Gratiuties to your guide are optional and always appreciated if they do a great job.


What language do the tours run in?

A: All tours are run in English.


What is your payment policy?

A: We ask payment at the time you reserve the tour online or with an agent.


Do you have a flexible Cancellation Policy?

How do I cancel if my plans change?

A: Our tours are really special, so we don’t recommend you cancel at all. That said, if your plans change you can log into, your My Ordersaccount which is the fastest and easiest way to cancel. You can also call or email, details in our footer below, and we’d confirm within 24 hours.


Any general recommendations for Europe?

A: We recommend you download Whatsapp for texting and calling. You can connect to wifi and call or text anyone using the app. It is the main way of communicating in Europe. Even most restaurants and companies will have a Whatsapp number listed for reservations.


Do we need to wear long pants at the Vatican?

A: The Vatican requires both men and women to cover shoulders and knees while inside sacred areas like the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. In addition to the Vatican, when a church is listed as a stop on your tour itinerary, please ensure you are wearing suitable clothing that covers shoulders and knees.


What happens if there's bad weather on the day of my tour?

A: In case of inclement weather, rest assured that our tours will still proceed as planned, rain or shine. Our guides and staff are well-prepared to ensure your safety and enjoyment during your tour.


What is the difference between a Private Tour and a Small Group Tour?

A: Private tour groups only consist of your party/group & your own private guide. A small group tour is when you will join a tour that is open to other The Roman Guy travelers. Small Group tours vary in size depending on the tour. Specific group size can be found on the webpage of each tour DELETE COMPLETELY.


What's the voltage and type of plugs used in Italy?

A: The voltage is 230V, and the standard plug type is the European two-pin plug. Make sure to bring the appropriate adapter if needed.


Can I use public transportation to get around the city and to the meeting points for the tours?

A: Yes, Italy has an extensive public transportation system, including trains, buses, and metros, making it convenient to explore cities and get to your meeting point safely and effectively! That said, we do not provide a refund for traffic, strikes, etc. If you’re late and miss the tour it is unlikely, you’ll be able to join once inside a monument. We recommend you leave very early if you’re going to use public transportation instead of a taxi.


What's the best time to visit Italy?

A: Italy is a year-round destination. The spring and fall months offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds, while summer is popular for its warm climate and festivals. The holiday season also provides a truly enchanting experience!November through March are the lease expensive times to travel with the exception of Christmas through New Years.


Is it customary to tip in Italy and do I need to tip the guides?

A: Tipping is appreciated but not obligatory. It's common to leave a small tip for good service in restaurants, cafes, and of course for your tour guide. Tipping is at your discretion!


Can I bring my Camera on the tours?

A: Personal use cameras are allowed on our tours. However, there might be photograph restrictions at certain sites, such as the Sistine Chapel. Specific restrictions will be listed directly on the webpage of each tour. Selfie-sticks are generally prohibited. Professional cameras with large lenses often attract attention and questions from the museum. Large or medium sized video equipment is almost never allowed in a museum in Europe.


Are there specific requirements for Colosseum Underground tours?

A: Yes, the Colosseum Underground Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill and VIP Colosseum at Night Tour with Underground and Arena Floor are unique and exclusive tours that have specific ticket requirements. Do the Food Tours cater to dietary requirements?

A: For various dietary requirements, we can accommodate many preferences. However, when it comes to food allergies, we regret that we cannot guarantee a complete absence of cross-contamination. If you have concerns about allergies, we strongly advise reaching out to our dedicated Customer Service team. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.


Are credit cards accepted in Italy?

A: Yes, credit cards are widely accepted in Italy. Major credit cards like Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are commonly used for payments at restaurants, shops, hotels, and other establishments. As always, we recommend carrying some cash just in case.


Can I remain inside the Vatican after my tour ends?

A: As long as you do not exit the Vatican, you can remain inside and explore at your leisure! This means you would not be able to join our guide to the St. Peter’s Basilica. Please keep in mind that this may change depending on the Vatican’s hours of operation, special arrangements or unexpected closures by the Vatican. Speak to your guide once the tour starts for recommendations.
